(Schaeff.) Fr.

Study description
Species typical of broadleaf woods such as oaks or beeches, with a hemispherical to applanate pileus with a slightly depressed center, 4 to 12 cm across, greenish with whitish to yellowish tints; thick, robust white stipe with brownish stains; white spore print; cheesy odor and sweet, hazelnut-like taste.
Cuticle formed by polymorphic, globose to vesiculose hyphae 12 to 40 µm long and 10 to 25 µm wide, with a good number of emergent hairs with pointed tips, 25 to 80 µm long and 4 to 8 µm wide. Pileocystidia absent.
Cheilocystidia cylindrical to fusiform, 40 to 60 µm long and 5 to 7 µm wide.
Pleurocystidia of similar morphology, 50 to 90 µm long and 7 to 9 µm wide; both cheilocystidia and pleurocystidia containing faint pigment inside.
Basidia clavate, 40 to 50 µm long, 9 to 10 µm wide, simple-based and four-spored.
Spores ellipsoidal, with warts up to 0.6 µm high, 6 to 8 µm long, 5 to 6.5 µm wide, ornamented with warts coalescing into short ridges, without forming a complete reticulum.
