Pyrenopeziza benesuada
(Tul.) Gremmen

Study description
General: Lignicolous on small decaying twigs, apothecia sessile, discoid, 1-2 mm diam., hymenium brownish-grey with bluish tints, margin raised and paler.
Margin: Composed of hyaline cylindrical hyphae arranged in parallel palisades (textura porrecta), 20-35 x 2.5-4.5 µm.
Excipulum: Ectal excipulum of textura globoso-angularis, cells 8-18 µm in diameter.
Asci: Cylindric-clavate, 8-spored, 50-75 x 5.5-7 µm, spores biseriate above and uniseriate below, apical pore amyloid in Melzer's reagent.
Paraphyses: Filiform, septate, 2-3 µm wide, apices swollen up to 4.5 µm, filled with refractive vacuolar granules.
Ascospores: Cylindrical, smooth, hyaline, thin-walled, unicellular, 12-17 x 2.5-3.5 µm, containing abundant small oil guttules.
