Plicaturopsis crispa
(Pers.) D.A.Reid

Study description
On decaying small fallen branches on the ground, especially of Fagus, Corylus, or Alnus, with fan-shaped basidiomata with a short stipe-like base, 1 to 2.5 cm across, ochre to brown, concentrically zonate with a whitish, crisped/undulating margin, a hymenium composed of branched, sinuous, forked, and anastomosing white folds or ribs, and a soft, elastic texture when fresh.
Hyphal system monomitic; pileipellis hyphae thick-walled, hyaline, 3 to 6 µm wide, profusely branched; tramal hyphae thin-walled, of similar width; both septate with prominent clamp connections.
Cystidia and other sterile hymenial elements absent.
Basidia clavate, short, 12 to 16 µm long, 3 to 4 µm wide, clamped at the base, 4-spored.
Spores cylindrical to allantoid, smooth, hyaline, thin-walled, 3.5 to 4.5 µm long, 1 to 1.3 µm wide, typically containing two minute oil drops at opposite poles, inamyloid in Melzer's reagent.
