(Schwein.) Carmarán & A.I.Romero

Study description
Saprophytic species on wood and plant debris of various types, with carbonaceous ascomata up to just over 0.5 mm in diameter, deeply immersed in the substrate, projecting long, cylindrical black ostiolar necks up to 0.6 mm tall, visible with a good hand lens.
Supporting hyphae cylindrical, hyaline, short, slender, unbranched, 1.5–2 µm wide, arising from the inner base of the perithecium.
Asci clavate, 8-spored, unitunicate, hyaline, thin-walled, measuring 19–23 µm long by 3–5 µm wide, with biseriate to slightly overlapping spore arrangement, rounded apices, inamyloid in Melzer's reagent.
Paraphyses short, simple, unbranched, without apical enlargements, of uniform width (1.5–2 µm).
Ascospores allantoid, smooth, hyaline, thin-walled, measuring 4.3–6 µm long by 1.5–2 µm wide, containing a pair of small oil droplets, one at each pole.
Herbarium material available: JTP2354/25.
