Study description
General: Spathulate earth tongue segregated from Microglossum viride in 2014 based on molecular data, 2-5 cm high, dull green with greyish shades, and spores slightly smaller than in M. viride.
Asci: Cylindric-clavate, 8-spored, 110-140 x 8-10 µm, spores biseriate to irregular occupying the upper three-quarters, apical pore slightly amyloid in Melzer's reagent.
Paraphyses: Scattered, filiform, hyaline, 1.5-2 µm wide, apices swollen up to 3 µm, branched near the base or middle.
Ascospores: Cylindrical to subfusiform, slightly allantoid, smooth, hyaline, thin-walled, 15-19.5 x 5.3-6.9 µm, densely filled with oil droplets of variable size.
