(L.) Fr., 1829

Study description
General: Common myxomycete (wolf's milk). Aethalia sessile, subglobose, solitary to crowded, 4-12 mm in diameter, varying from pinkish when young (with a pink paste-like plasmodial matrix) to greyish-brown or bronze, surface slightly verrucose to scaly.

Columella & Capillitium: True capillitium and columella absent.
Pseudocapillitium: Tubular, hyaline to yellowish-brown under the microscope, branched and anastomosing, irregular tubules 6-12 µm diam., heavily marked with transverse wrinkles and incomplete spiral bands, ends blunt and slightly widened.
Spores: Globose, pale yellow under the microscope, 6.5-8 µm in diameter, ornamented with low ridges up to 0.3 µm high forming an incomplete reticulum.
