(Alb. & Schwein.) Singer

Study description
General: White-spored agaric associated with conifers, pileus convex, brown, with a viscid surface in wet weather, stipe cylindrical, solid, with a prominent, distinctly marginate bulb at the base, mild celery-like odor, insipid taste.
Pileipellis: Ixocutis formed by filamentous hyphae 4-6 µm wide, hyaline to faintly yellowish-brown, interwoven and gelatinized, underlaid by a more compact layer of broader parallel hyphae, all septate with large clamp connections.
Lamellar edge: Fertile, lacking differentiated cystidia.
Basidia: Clavate, 28-35 x 7-10 µm, with basal clamp connections, 4-spored.
Spores: Ellipsoid, smooth, hyaline, thick-walled, 6-8 x 4-5 µm, with a distinct hyaline apiculus, containing oil droplets, inamyloid in Melzer's reagent.
