Lactarius pubescens
Fr.

Study description
General: Associated with birch (Betula), with unchanging white latex and an intensely acrid taste.
Pileipellis: Filamentous cutis formed by hyphae arranged parallel to slightly interwoven, 3-8 µm wide, very slightly gelatinized, septate with simple septa.
Cheilocystidia: Abundant, fusiform, 40-60 x 6-8 µm, containing dense refractive granular contents.
Pleurocystidia: Similar in morphology and dimensions to cheilocystidia.
Basidia: Clavate, 30-40 x 8-10 µm, base simple, 4-spored.
Spores: Ellipsoid, with ridges up to 0.7 µm high connected together without forming a complete reticulum, with a hyaline apiculus, amyloid in Melzer's reagent.
Herbarium voucher: JTP2612/25.
