Lactarius blennius
(Fr.) Fr.

Study description
General: Associated with Fagus sylvatica, with white latex slowly turning pale grey to greenish, and an acrid taste.
Pileipellis: Ixocutis of hyaline, interwoven hyphae 1-3 µm wide, embedded in a gelatinous matrix, with simple septa.
Cheilocystidia: Abundant, fusiform to lageniform, 25-55 x 5-10 µm, with refractive granular contents.
Pleurocystidia: Scattered, similar in shape but larger, 40-85 x 7-10 µm.
Basidia: Cylindric-clavate, 32-41 x 8-10 µm, 2- or 4-spored.
Spores: Subspherical to short-ellipsoid, ornamented with prominent ridges up to 1.3 µm high, connected but not reticulate, with a hyaline apiculus, amyloid in Melzer's reagent.
