(Fr.) P.Kumm.

Study description
A widespread species, generally gregarious in growth, with caulocystidia extending down to the middle of the stipe.
Pileipellis composed of parallelly arranged hyphae, very broad with short septa, 10-16 µm wide, with abundant brown intracellular pigment, septate with clamped septa.
Caulocystidia reaching down to the middle of the stipe.
Cheilocystidia fusiform, strongly ventricose, walls up to 2.5 µm thick, with apical crystallizations, intermixed with shorter, clavate, non-crystallized paracystidia.
Pleurocystidia scattered, morphologically very similar to cheilocystidia.
Basidia clavate, 25-33 µm long and 9-11 µm wide, with basal clamps, 4-spored.
Spores ellipsoidal, irregular, with slightly undulating outline, smooth, thick-walled, yellowish-brown under the microscope, with an inconspicuous lateral apiculus at one end and faint granular internal content.
