Hypholoma capnoides
(Fr.) P.Kumm.

Study description
A species associated with conifers (Picea, Abies, or Pinus), generally growing in fasciculate clusters and having a mild (sweet) taste.
Pileipellis composed of a thin upper layer of filamentous hyphae, parallelly arranged, 3-7 µm wide, septate and clamped; underlain by much broader hyphae up to 30 µm wide with short septa giving a cellular appearance, thick-walled with yellowish intracellular pigment inside.
Cheilocystidia fusiform to lageniform, containing refractive chrysocystidial bodies (chrysocystidia), 20-40 µm long and 7-16 µm wide; pleurocystidia scattered on the gill face, morphologically and dimensionally very similar to the cheilocystidia.
Basidia cylindrical, 20-30 µm long and 6-7 µm wide, with basal clamps, 4-spored.
Spores ellipsoidal, smooth, thick-walled, greyish-yellow under the microscope, with an eccentric apiculus at one end, an indistinct apical germ pore at the opposite pole, and homogeneous, finely granular internal content.
