Hericium coralloides
(Scop.) Pers.

Study description
A coral-like species, white with yellowish tones, featuring abundant branched pendent branches with pointed spines.
Monomitic hyphal system with generative hyphae of highly variable morphology: many very thick-walled resembling skeletal hyphae, others thinner-walled, 5-15 µm wide, all septate and clamped.
Abundant gloeocystidia-like hyphae with internal content, deeply immersed in the hymenium, cylindrical to slightly fusiform, up to 70 µm long and 7-10 µm wide.
Basidia cylindric-clavate, 30-45 µm long and 5-7 µm wide, with basal clamps, 4-spored.
Spores ovoid, thick-walled and very minutely verrucose, with an almost imperceptible apiculus, a large internal oil droplet, strongly amyloid in Melzer's reagent.
