Study description

Saddle-shaped with a deeply fluted stipe with longitudinal furrows.

Outer excipulum composed of erect, septate hyphae, slightly constricted at the septa and swollen at the terminal cell. Beneath these lie densely compacted hyaline hyphae of textura globulosa-angularis.

Stipe surface with hyaline terminal hyphae morphologically very similar to those of the ectal excipulum.

Asci cylindrical, 8-spored, uniseriate, up to 300 µm long and 13-18 µm wide, inamyloid in Melzer's reagent.

Paraphyses filiform, simple, unbranched, sparsely septate, swollen at the apex, with faint brownish intracellular pigment inside.

Ascospores ellipsoidal, smooth, hyaline, thin-walled, with a large central oil droplet and small polar guttules.
