Fomitopsis pinicola

Trimitic hyphal system, with thick-walled aseptate skeletal hyphae 3 to 6 µm wide, thin-walled clamped generative hyphae 2 to 5 µm wide, and thick-walled, aseptate, richly branched binding hyphae 1.5 to 3.5 µm wide.

Cystidia cylindrical, with rounded apices, projecting well above the hymenial level.

Basidia clavate, up to 24 µm long, 4-spored.

Spores cylindric-ellipsoidal, with one flattened side, smooth, hyaline, thin-walled, with a lateral apiculus, faint granular content, inamyloid in Melzer's reagent.
