(Paulet) Noordel. & Co-David

Study description
An uncommon species, formerly known as Rhodocybe gemina, with a convex to applanate pileus 4 to 10 cm in diameter, brownish ochre; adnate lamellae pale ochre to pinkish; a cylindrical, fibrillose stipe concolorous with the pileus; aromatic odor and slightly bitter taste.
Cuticle formed by cylindrical hyphae arranged more or less parallel to slightly interwoven, 4 to 6 µm wide, hyaline or with only faint brownish intracellular pigment, septate with short cells and without clamp connections (simple septa).
Lamellar edge without clearly differentiated cystidia, but bearing abundant hair-like pseudocystidia both on the edge and sides of the lamellae; these sterile hyphae are cylindrical, filiform to subfusiform, sinuous, 25 to 45 µm long and only 2 to 5 µm wide.
Basidia clavate, 25 to 35 µm long, 6 to 8 µm wide, simple-based (clampless) and four-spored.
Spores ellipsoidal, smooth, hyaline, thin-walled and slightly angular (with flattened facets), pale yellow under the microscope, 5 to 6.5 µm long, 4 to 5 µm wide, with a pointed apiculus at one end, containing granular oily content inside, and inamyloid in Melzer's reagent.
Herbarium material available: JTP2015/23 and JTP2253/24.
