Bulgaria inquinans

Excipular hyphae filiform, septate and separated by gelification.

Asci 8-spored, cylindrical, uniseriate, exhibiting an amyloid apical apparatus according to the literature.

Paraphyses very slender, filamentous, septate, with heavily pigmented granular content inside, protruding above the level of the asci.

Mature ascospores reniform, very dark, dark brown to nearly black under the microscope; interspersed with these are smaller, much more hyaline ascospores, representing immature ascospores.
