Microglossum cyanobasis
P.Iglesias & Arauzo

Study description
A recently described species originally found in Oriñón (Cantabria) by Sabino Arauzo and Plácido Iglesias. Only one site was previously known in the Basque Country (in Sopuerta, Bizkaia, by Javier Fernández). This collection represents the second known locality in Bizkaia and one of very few worldwide.
While Microglossum species are generally difficult to separate without molecular data, its macroscopic bluish or greenish-blue stipe base makes it unique within the genus. Microscopically, its curved paraphyses are also highly diagnostic.
Collected with Javier Fernández in Erandio (Bizkaia) on a mossy embankment near Laurus nobilis and Corylus avellana in late December, alongside interesting species of Clavaria, Clavulinopsis, and Ramariopsis.
