Dasyscyphella nivea
(R.Hedw.) Raitv.

Study description
A minute ascomycete easily overlooked due to its tiny dimensions. It usually fruits in extensive swarms within crevices or on the undersides of decaying wood, particularly Fagus and Quercus.
It bears a close macroscopic resemblance to species of Lachnum, especially the common L. virgineum, necessitating microscopic study for reliable identification. Beyond possessing a less developed stipe, the most distinct feature lies in its marginal hairs: these are septate and finely encrusted except at the smooth apical zone, which may occasionally display slight dilatations.
The microscopic study corresponds to a collection gathered in January on the underside of a very wet and decayed beech trunk in Amurrio (Álava).
