Microscopía de Volvariella bombycina

Study description

On wood or roots of broadleaf trees, with a hemispherical, convex to expanded cap, 5 to 12 cm in diameter, with a whitish surface bearing radial fibrils, free pinkish-brown gills due to sporulation, a white cylindrical stipe, an ochre membranous basal volva, a raphanoid odour, and a sweet taste.

Filamentous cuticle formed by cylindrical hyphae arranged parallel, thin-walled, 25 to 40 µm wide, with a slight ochre-brown pigment inside, sparsely septate and without clamp connections.

Cheilocystidia fusiform to clavate, sometimes with a short neck, 50 to 100 µm long by 12 to 25 µm wide.

Scattered polymorphic pleurocystidia, fusiform to subutriform, 40 to 90 µm long by 10 to 20 µm wide.

Basidia clavate, 20 to 30 µm long by 8 to 11 µm wide, with a simple base and tetrasporic.

Spores ellipsoidal, smooth, thick-walled, light brown under the microscope, 7 to 9.5 µm long by 4.5 to 6 µm wide, with a discreet apiculus at one end, with slight granular content inside, and without reaction in Melzer's reagent (inamyloid).
