Study description
On decaying semi-submerged wood or plant debris, with sessile disc-shaped apothecia, 2 to 3 mm in diameter by up to 1.5 mm high, yellowish with greenish tinges, with a blackish exterior contrasting with the colour of the hymenium.
Medullary excipulum of textura intricata, formed by densely intertwined filamentous hyphae, hyaline or with only a slight light brown pigment inside.
Ectal excipulum of textura angularis to prismatica, formed by thick-walled hyphae 12 to 15 µm in diameter, those on the outer surface containing abundant brown pigment, which imparts their distinctive marginal colour.
Asci cylindrical, pleurorhynchous, eight-spored (octosporic), 180 to 280 µm long by 7 to 8 µm wide, with spores arranged parallel inside the ascus, occupying almost its entire length, and inamyloid in Melzer's reagent.
Paraphyses filiform, septate, branched, 1.5 to 2.5 µm wide, with apical swellings 3 to 4 µm wide, containing abundant refractive guttules inside.
Ascospores filiform, smooth, hyaline, thin-walled, septate, up to 170 µm long, fragmenting into part-spores 30 to 60 µm long by 1.5 to 2.5 µm wide, these fragments mostly 3-septate, with a homogeneous interior.
