Study description
Tiny apothecia fruiting dispersedly but abundantly on decomposing fallen leaves on the ground, in riparian woodland under poplars (Populus), with disc-shaped ascomata with a raised margin, blackish, only 0.2 to 0.3 mm in diameter, and without a clearly differentiated margin.
Excipulum very reduced, of textura globulosa-angularis.
Asci 8-spored, uniseriate, bitunicate, pleurorhynchous, 55 to 75 µm long, 8.5 to 12 µm wide, spore arrangement within the ascus uniseriate below to biseriate in the upper part, with a cylindrical to slightly apically widened apical apparatus, 2.6 to 3.4 µm long, 2 to 2.3 µm wide, and amyloid in Melzer's reagent.
Paraphyses filiform, septate, 1.5 to 2 µm wide, with slight apical enlargements to 2 to 3 µm, projecting slightly above the level of the asci.
Ascospores ellipsoid, smooth, hyaline, 8 to 11.5 µm long, 5 to 8 µm wide, containing one or several oil droplets inside, inamyloid in Melzer's reagent.
