Trichopeziza subsulphurea
(Svrček) Baral

Study description
Apothecia fruiting on the surface of dead, decaying wood on the ground, from an unidentified broadleaf tree near a watercourse, with hairy, yellow, globose ascomata 0.55 to 0.82 mm in diameter and 0.49 to 0.54 mm high, which open with moisture adopting a bowl or cup shape, revealing a whitish hymenium.
External hairs cylindrical, thick-walled, septate, 70 to 120 µm long, 4 to 5 µm wide, with abundant coarse yellow encrusting matter on their surface.
Medullary excipulum of textura intricata, and ectal excipulum supporting the hairs of textura globulosa-angularis, with thin-walled hyphae.
Asci cylindric-clavate, 8-spored, 40 to 55 µm long, 4 to 6 µm wide, spore arrangement within the ascus uniseriate below to irregularly biseriate above, with basal croziers and an amyloid reaction in Melzer's reagent in their minute apical apparatus.
Paraphyses very abundant, narrowly lanceolate, tapering to a pointed tip, some septate, with contents lightly stained in Melzer's reagent, 2 to 3 µm wide, projecting slightly above the level of the asci.
Ascospores cylindrical to slightly fusiform, smooth, hyaline, thin-walled, 6 to 10 µm long, 2 to 3 µm wide, with a slight content of small oil droplets inside.
