(Fr.) P.Kumm.

Study description
Species typical of mountain pine woods, preferably on acidic soils, with a hemispherical to conical cap, 3 to 6 cm in diameter, surface bearing blackish-grey radial fibrils, adnate to emarginate greyish-white gills, a greyish-white cylindrical stipe, without any noticeable odour, and with a very bitter taste.
Filamentous cuticle composed of hyphae arranged parallel, 2 to 5 µm wide, those of the upper part slightly separated from each other by gelification, with a blackish-brown pigment inside, all septate with simple septa (without clamp connections).
Abundant polymorphic marginal cells on the gill edge, cylindrical to clavate, 30 to 40 µm long by 12 to 18 µm wide.
Lamellar trama regular or parallel.
Basidia clavate, 25 to 35 µm long by 7 to 10 µm wide, with a simple base and tetrasporic.
Spores ellipsoidal, smooth, hyaline, with an eccentric apiculus at one end, 7 to 8 µm long by 4.5 to 6 µm wide, with a thick oil or lipid drop inside, and inamyloid in Melzer's reagent.
