Study description
Species associated with conifers, such as firs or pines, with a convex to plano-convex cap, 4 to 7 cm in diameter, with a slimy, shiny brown surface, darker in the center, adnate pale cream-brown gills, a cylindrical stipe with brownish fibrils, and a mealy odour and taste.
Cuticle formed by filamentous hyphae, those of the upper part widely separated from each other by gelification, 2 to 5 µm wide, with some branches, with abundant encrusting intracellular brown pigment, and beneath these, more compacted hyphae arranged more or less parallel, with similar width, with a slight encrusting greyish-brown pigment inside, all septate with simple septa (without clamp connections).
Gill edge fertile, without elements differentiated from basidia or basidioles (without cystidia).
Lamellar trama regular or parallel.
Basidia clavate, 30 to 40 µm long by 6 to 8 µm wide, with a simple base and tetrasporic.
Spores subglobose to short ellipsoidal, smooth, hyaline, thin-walled, 6 to 7.5 µm long by 4.5 to 6 µm wide, with an eccentric apiculus at one end, with a thick oil or lipid drop inside, and inamyloid in Melzer's reagent.
