(Pers.) Gillet

Study description
Under conifers or broadleaf trees, preferring acidic soils, with a convex to flattened pileus, 3 to 7 cm in diameter, smooth to slightly scaly surface, cream-colored with a vinaceous to purple center, adnate yellow lamellae, cylindrical yellowish-cream stipe, unpleasant gas-like odor, and sweet taste.
Cuticle filamentous, composed of densely interwoven hyphae, 3 to 6 µm wide, with brownish intracellular pigment, some emergent endings with rounded apices, septate with simple septa (without clamp connections).
Without cystidia, but with some hair-like terminal cells on the gill edge, cylindrical, sinuous, 25 to 30 µm long, and much narrower than basidia, 2.5 to 3.5 µm wide.
Lamellar trama regular or parallel.
Basidia cylindric-clavate, 35 to 45 µm long, 8 to 10 µm wide, mostly with simple base (with some clamped basidia), 4-spored.
Spores ellipsoid to amygdaliform, smooth, hyaline, thin-walled, with an eccentric apiculus at one end, 8.5 to 10.5 µm long, 4.5 to 6 µm wide, containing a large oil droplet inside, inamyloid in Melzer's reagent.
