A species typical of conifers such as Pinus or Abies, with a convex to wavy pileus bearing a central umbo and an inrolled margin, 4 to 8 cm in diameter, smooth light brown surface, adnate to emarginate whitish lamellae, thick whitish stipe, farinaceous odor, and farinaceous, slightly bitter taste.
Cuticle filamentous, composed of hyphae arranged more or less parallel, 3 to 7 µm wide, with slight brownish intracellular pigment, septate mostly with simple septa, although literature notes that occasional scattered clamp connections may be present.
Without cystidia, although occasionally displaying clavate marginal cells of dimensions similar to basidia.
Lamellar trama regular or parallel.
Basidia cylindric-clavate, 25 to 35 µm long, 6 to 8 µm wide, mostly with simple base, 4-spored.
Spores ellipsoid, smooth, hyaline, thin-walled, with an eccentric apiculus at one end, 5 to 6.5 µm long, 3.5 to 5 µm wide, containing one or several oil droplets (guttules) inside, inamyloid in Melzer's reagent.
