Trichaptum fuscoviolaceum
(Ehrenb.) Ryvarden

Study description
On decaying dead wood of conifers, preferring pines, with effused-reflexed, rarely resupinate basidiomes, upper surface slightly hirsute, greyish-white, with a hymenium composed of brownish to purple spines (teeth), and a very thin context only up to 1 mm thick.
Dimitic hyphal system, with thick-walled hyaline skeletal hyphae, sparsely branched, 2.5 to 6 µm wide, aseptate; and thin-walled hyaline generative hyphae, 2 to 4 µm wide, sparsely branched like the skeletal hyphae, septate and with clamp connections.
Cystidia abundant, thick-walled, mostly with apical encrustations, 25 to 40 µm long, 4 to 6 µm wide.
Basidia clavate, 15 to 25 µm long, 4 to 6 µm wide, with basal clamp connections, 4-spored.
Spores cylindrical to slightly allantoid, smooth, hyaline, thin-walled, with a lateral apiculus at one end, 8 to 11 µm long, 3 to 4 µm wide, with slightly granular contents inside, inamyloid in Melzer's reagent.
Herbarium material available: JTP2202/24 and JTP2530/25.
