Thyronectria sinopica
(Fr.) Jaklitsch & Voglmayr

Study description
On a small decaying stem of Hedera helix on the ground, with globose to subglobose perithecia, red, orange in the apical region, with an apical depression when dry, only 0.25 to 0.40 mm in diameter, growing singly or in small clusters, erumpent through the host bark.
Stromatal tissue pseudoparenchymatous, thick-walled, bright orange, turning intense reddish-violet upon application of 10% KOH.
Asci cylindrical-clavate, unitunicate, 8-spored, 70 to 80 µm long, 11 to 14 µm wide, with spores uniseriate in the lower portion, overlapping obliquely, to biseriate or irregular apically, inamyloid in Melzer's reagent.
Paraphyses filiform, hyaline, septate, 2 to 4 µm wide, slightly exceeding the level of the asci.
Ascospores ellipsoidal to fusiform, smooth, hyaline, slightly thick-walled, with a central septum and slight constriction at the septum, 10 to 14 µm long, 5 to 6.5 µm wide, containing small oil droplets (guttules) inside.
