On dead decaying wood or bark on the ground, formerly known as Tomentella sublilacina, with resupinate basidiomes, tightly adhering to the substrate, with a granulose to slightly hydnoid surface, brown with violaceous hues, and with a diffuse, whitish growing margin.
Subicular hyphae moderately thick-walled, hyaline or with brownish intracellular pigment, 5 to 10 µm wide, sinuous in outline, with swellings and branches, unencrusted on their surface, septate, with clamp connections.
Subhymenial hyphae similar, hyaline or with slight brownish pigment inside, profusely branched, with swellings up to 15 µm, and like the subicular hyphae septate with clamp connections.
Without cystidia.
Basidia clavate, hyaline, thin-walled, 25 to 55 µm long, 8 to 11 µm wide, with basal clamp connections, 4-spored.
Spores globose to subglobose, with an irregular, lobed outline, echinulate, 7 to 8.5 µm long, 5 to 7.5 µm wide, ornamented with long spines 1.5 to 2 µm in length, with a hyaline apiculus at one end, inamyloid in Melzer's reagent.
