Stemonaria fuscoides
Nann.-Bremek. & Y.Yamam., 1984

Study description
On decaying wood or bark on the ground, with stalked sporocarps appearing in small groups, 4 to 5 mm high, with a cylindrical sporotheca 3 to 4 mm long, up to 0.5 mm wide, brown, with a short black stipe up to 1/4 of total height.
Its specific epithet "fuscoides" refers to its resemblance to Stemonitis fusca, both in colour and spores.
Columella opaque, blackish-brown under the microscope, with a broad base tapering progressively towards the apex, where it ends in two to three branches.
Capillitium light brown, with threads tapering and branching towards the periphery, forming some meshes but without forming a complete surface net, and with pointed free ends 6 to 9 µm long.
Spores globose, pale brown under the microscope, warty-walled, 8 to 9 µm in diameter, ornamented with warts or spines up to 0.5 µm high that join together to form a complete reticulum.
Herbarium material available: JTP2517/25.
