Study description

On wood in advanced decay or directly on dung, with globose fruit bodies 1 to 2 mm in diameter, yellowish, opening and tearing into a star shape with development to forcefully eject the internal spore-containing peridiole.

Outer peridial hyphae filamentous, smooth, hyaline, thin-walled, interwoven, branched, 4 to 8 µm in diameter, septate and clamped.

Inner peridial hyphae pseudoparenchymatous, formed by subglobose, vesiculose to angular hyphae 15 to 35 µm in diameter.

Basidia clavate, 8 to 15 µm long, 6 to 8 µm wide, simple-based, generally with 6 sterigmata.

Spores cylindrical-ellipsoidal to irregular, smooth, hyaline, thick-walled, 7 to 9.5 µm long, 4.5 to 6 µm wide, with homogeneous contents, and inamyloid in Melzer's reagent.
