On sandy soils, appearing among bryophytes, with sessile, disc-shaped apothecia 0.5 to 1 cm across, orange, with a crenulate margin bearing whitish teeth.
Marginal hairs cylindrical, hyaline, moderately thick-walled, septate, 7 to 10 µm wide.
Medullary excipulum of textura intricata, with cylindrical, hyaline, closely interwoven hyphae 4 to 8 µm in diameter.
Ectal excipulum formed by globose, hyaline hyphae 15 to 40 µm in diameter.
Asci cylindrical, eight-spored, 230 to 270 µm long, 15 to 21 µm wide, with spore arrangement uniseriate to biseriate in the apical region, and inamyloid in Melzer's reagent.
Paraphyses cylindrical, septate, 3 to 4 µm wide, with slight apical enlargements of 4 to 6 µm, containing granular orange intracellular pigment, projecting above the asci.
Ascospores ellipsoidal to subfusiform, with slightly pointed ends, hyaline, smooth- and slightly thick-walled, 22 to 30 µm long, 10 to 13 µm wide, generally containing two large oil droplets accompanied by smaller guttules of varying size inside.
