Study description
On damp, decorticated decaying ground wood, with small disc-shaped sessile apothecia 0.2 to 0.5 cm in diameter, yellowish orange, with the margin fringed with brown hairs.
Marginal hairs straight, thick-walled, multiseptate, dark brown under the microscope, with a simple to multifurcate base, 400 to 700 µm long and 22 to 28 µm wide at the base.
Asci cylindrical, eight-spored, operculate, 300 to 325 µm long, 14 to 17 µm wide, with uniseriate spore arrangement inside the ascus, basal croziers, and inamyloid in Melzer's reagent.
Paraphyses filiform, septate, branched from the base, 3 to 4 µm wide, with apical enlargements of the terminal cell of 5.5 to 7.5 µm, containing orange intracellular pigment, extending very little or not at all above the asci.
Ascospores ellipsoidal, hyaline, smooth- to very faintly verruculose-walled, 17.5 to 19.5 µm long, 11 to 12.5 µm wide, containing abundant guttules inside.
