Massee ex Le Gal

Study description
A lignicolous species with disc-shaped apothecia 0.3 to 1 cm in diameter, brownish orange, with an undulate margin in well-developed specimens.
Marginal hairs septate, brown under the microscope, thick-walled (wall thickness 5 to 7.5 µm), 300 to 1000 µm long, with a simple to bifurcate base, and a maximum basal width of 30 to 50 µm.
Asci cylindrical, eight-spored, 200 to 230 µm long, 12 to 15 µm wide, with uniseriate spore arrangement inside the ascus, slightly overlapping obliquely, and inamyloid in Melzer's reagent.
Paraphyses filiform, septate, 2 to 3 µm wide, with apical enlargements up to 5 µm, projecting above the asci.
Ascospores ellipsoidal, hyaline, thick-walled, with irregular warts up to 1.5 µm high, 18 to 21 µm long, 11 to 13.5 µm wide, ornamented with rounded warts coalescing to form short irregular ridges visible in lactophenol cotton blue.
