(Alb. & Schwein.) L.Lombard, Sand.-Den. & Crous

Study description
In riparian woodland under riverine trees, on very damp decaying wood on the ground, also known as Volutella ciliata, with stalked ascomata 0.4 to 0.5 mm in diameter, total height up to 0.9 mm (excluding setae), with a globose white receptacle fringed with long setae up to 0.5 mm densely arranged around the margin.
Setae cylindrical, hyaline, septate, thick-walled (wall thickness 1.3 to 3 µm), 350 to 480 µm long, 5 to 9 µm wide, with a simple and generally slightly narrowed base.
Conidiophores hyaline, smooth- and thin-walled, arranged in a palisade, giving rise to 1 to 3 conidiogenous cells (phialides) responsible for producing conidia.
Conidia ellipsoidal to slightly fusiform, hyaline, smooth- and slightly thick-walled, 4.5 to 6 µm long, 2.5 to 3 µm wide, with minute oil droplets scattered inside, and inamyloid in Melzer's reagent.
Herbarium material available: JTP2429/25.
