Pers.

Study description
A fairly common species on sandy soils, with globose to ellipsoidal fruit bodies 3 to 9 cm in diameter, yellowish to cream, with abundant brown warts, and a gleba turning from white to blackish blue at maturity.
Peridial hyphae filamentous, hyaline, thin- to slightly thick-walled, interwoven, 3 to 6 µm thick, septate with septa partially clamped, mostly simple.
Glebal wall hyphae smooth, hyaline, thin-walled, identical in width to the peridial hyphae, septate and clamped.
Basidia disintegrating with development; according to literature, cylindrical to clavate, simple-based, 10 to 15 µm long and 3 to 5 µm wide.
Spores globose, verrucose-walled, dark brown under the microscope, 9.5 to 12 µm in diameter (excluding ornamentation), ornamented with coarse ridges that interconnect to form meshes and an incomplete reticulum.
