Schizophyllum leprieurii
Linder

Study description
A neotropical species with fan- or cup-shaped basidiomes, brown, 0.5 to 1.3 cm in diameter, with strikingly bright orange lamellae, without a differentiated stipe, attached to the substrate directly from the pileus by its center or often by an eccentric attachment point.
Cuticle formed by filamentous hyphae with very thick walls and narrow lumina, 3 to 4 µm in diameter, with copious brownish intracellular pigment, septate with simple septa.
Subicular hyphae thick-walled, 3.5 to 5 µm in diameter, with faint brownish intracellular pigment and abundant surface encrustations, septate with simple septa like the cuticle.
Cystidia not observed.
Basidia cylindrical-clavate, 25 to 30 µm long, 4 to 5 µm wide, simple-based and four-spored.
Spores cylindrical to slightly allantoid, smooth, hyaline, thin-walled, with an eccentric apiculus at one end, 7 to 10 µm long, 2.5 to 3.5 µm wide, with homogeneous contents and inamyloid in Melzer's reagent.
A species very similar to its congener Schizophyllum umbrinum, the latter having smaller spores (4.5–6 × 2–2.5 µm according to identification keys).
