Study description
A saxicolous lichen on limestone, with a whitish to light brownish thallus restricted only to the area around the apothecia; these apothecia are circular, sessile, 0.3 to 1 mm in diameter, 0.2 to 0.4 mm high, reddish-brown to blackish, and with a pruinose margin.
Asci clavate, 60 to 85 µm long, 15 to 25 µm wide, containing 100 to 200 ascospores inside, and inamyloid in Melzer's reagent.
Paraphyses filiform, multi-septate, hyaline, 1.5 to 2 µm wide at the base, with apical cell enlargements 3 to 5 µm wide, often apically covered by an amorphous mass of dark brown pigment, and projecting above the level of the asci.
Ascospores ellipsoidal to oblong, smooth, hyaline, thin-walled, 4.5 to 6 µm long, 2 to 3 µm wide, containing small oil droplets inside.
