Species typical of broadleaves, with a convex to slightly infundibuliform pileus 4 to 8 cm in diameter, ochraceous with reddish tones; pileus margin sulcate; cream-colored spore print; hollow stipe; odor of bitter almonds or marzipan, and slightly acrid, unpleasant, nauseating taste.
Cuticle filamentous, formed by interwoven hyphae 3 to 4.5 µm wide, the upper ones separated by gelification, with terminal hyphae acting as dermatocystidia, highly variable in length (40 to 85 µm long) and 5 to 9 µm wide, with ochraceous pigment inside, septate with simple septa.
Cheilocystidia and pleurocystidia cylindrical-fusiform, 50 to 95 µm long and 9 to 15 µm wide.
Basidia clavate, 45 to 60 µm long, 10 to 14 µm wide, lacking basal clamp connections, four-spored.
Spores subglobose, with prominent warts joined in long ridges up to 2 µm high, 7.5 to 11 µm long, 7 to 10.5 µm wide, ornamented with coarse discontinuous ridges that do not join to form a complete network.
