Study description
On decaying ground wood of both conifers and broadleaves, with resupinate basidiomes, white surface with 5 to 7 pores per mm turning red upon rubbing or bruising, tubes up to 5 mm long, soft and waxy in consistency.
Hyphal system monomitic, with cylindrical, hyaline generative hyphae, thin- to slightly thick-walled, arranged parallel, 4 to 6.5 µm in diameter, very difficult to dissociate, septate with simple septa (without clamp connections).
Cystidia absent, but scattered fusiform cystidioles present, 15 to 27 µm long, 5 to 7 µm wide, some with apical encrustations, simple-based.
Basidia clavate, 15 to 25 µm long, 5 to 7 µm wide, simple-based, bearing two or four sterigmata (two- or four-spored).
Spores subglobose to ovoid, smooth, hyaline, thin-walled, 4.5 to 6 µm long, 4 to 5.5 µm wide, with a pointed apiculus at one end, containing oil droplets of varying size inside, and inamyloid in Melzer's reagent.
