Study description
A relatively newly described species (2014) whose epithet refers to its collection locality (Dominican Republic), with a convex pileus 2.5 to 5 cm across, cream-colored; adnate lamellae, pale yellow turning pinkish with sporulation; a cylindrical central stipe with numerous rhizoids at the base; farinaceous odor and taste.
Cuticle composed of two layers: an upper layer (suprapellis) formed by filamentous, cylindrical, thin-walled hyphae 6 to 10 µm wide, interwoven, with yellowish-brown intracellular pigment, septate, without clamp connections; beneath these (subpellis), nearly globose, very broad hyphae 25 to 45 µm long and 18 to 25 µm wide, with faint intracellular pigment like the suprapellis.
Lamellar edge lacking elements differentiated from basidia.
Lamellar trama regular or parallel.
Basidia clavate, hyaline, 16 to 25 µm long, 5 to 7 µm wide, simple-based and four-spored.
Spores ellipsoidal to subamygdaliform, slightly thick-walled and verrucose with an undulate outline, 5.5 to 7 µm long, 3.5 to 4.5 µm wide, with a pointed apiculus at one end, containing a large oil droplet inside, and inamyloid in Melzer's reagent.
Herbarium material available: JTP2155/24.
