(Fr.) Vizzini, P.Alvarado, G.Moreno & Consiglio

Study description
Under conifers, especially Picea, formerly known as Clitocybe vermicularis; the specimen in this study was obtained from an exhibition, hence in-situ field photos are unavailable; pileus initially convex, becoming applanate and slightly infundibuliform, 3 to 7 cm in diameter, orange-brown; lamellae adnate to very slightly decurrent; stipe rooting with numerous characteristic white rhizomorphs; herbaceous odor and mild, slightly farinaceous taste.
Cuticle composed of filamentous, slightly interwoven hyphae, thin- to slightly thick-walled, 2 to 4.5 µm in diameter, with faint brownish intracellular pigment, septate and clamped.
Lamellar edge homomorphic, lacking elements clearly differentiated from basidia or basidioles.
Lamellar trama regular or parallel.
Basidia cylindrical-clavate, 15 to 20 µm long, 3 to 5 µm wide, with basal clamp connections and four-spored.
Spores ellipsoidal, smooth, hyaline, thin-walled, 4 to 5.5 µm long, 2.5 to 3.5 µm wide, with an eccentric apiculus at one end, containing faint oil droplets inside, and inamyloid in Melzer's reagent.
Herbarium material available: JTP2461/25.
