Species typical of horse dung, with a campanulate to convex pileus, 1 to 2.5 cm in diameter, reddish brown to yellowish brown, adnate lamellae grey to brown due to sporulation, and a cylindrical, pale yellow stipe, slightly pruinose at the apex.
Cuticle with a gelatinous pellicle, formed by spaced hyphae embedded in a gelatinous matrix, with multiple branchings, 2 to 6 µm wide, with brownish intracellular pigment, and beneath these more compacted hyphae, slightly interwoven, 8 to 15 µm wide, septate and clamped.
Cheilocystidia lageniform, with a long neck, 20 to 35 µm long and 6 to 9 µm wide at the base.
Pleurocystidia absent.
Basidia clavate, short, 12 to 15 µm long, 7 to 9 µm wide, with basal clamp connections and four-spored.
Spores cylindrical-ellipsoidal, smooth and thick-walled, pale violaceous brown under the microscope, 12 to 15 µm long, 6 to 8 µm wide, with a very minute, inconspicuous apiculus at one end and a truncated central germ pore at the opposite end.
