Psathyrella pennata
(Fr.) A.Pearson & Dennis

Study description
Species occurring on burnt ground and charcoal sites (carbonicolous), with a convex to flattened pileus 1.5 to 3.5 cm across, hygrophanous, purplish-brown when moist, fading to pale ochre or beige upon drying, adnate greyish-beige to dark reddish-brown lamellae, and a cylindrical, hollow white stipe covered in whitish fibrillose veil remnants.
Pileipellis composed of hyaline globose to pyriform cells 35 to 70 µm long and 25 to 50 µm wide; veil hyphae cylindrical to fusiform with swellings, 30 to 150 µm long and 5 to 20 µm wide, filled with brown pigment.
Cheilocystidia and pleurocystidia not observed; according to literature fusiform to lageniform, 40 to 70 µm long and 6 to 9 µm wide, mixed with pyriform cells 20 to 30 µm long and 15 to 25 µm wide.
Basidia clavate, 18 to 23 µm long, 8 to 11 µm wide, partly clamped, 4-spored.
Spores ellipsoidal, smooth, slightly thick-walled, brown under the microscope, 6.5 to 8.5 µm long, 3.5 to 4.5 µm wide, without an evident apiculus, and with a very small, barely visible germ pore.
