Study description
A fungus widespread throughout the Caribbean region, terrestrial on decaying organic litter, with a conical to flattened pileus 1.5 to 3 cm in diameter, whitish with a cream-ochre disc, very thin context, free lamellae, whitish to brown from sporulation, a cylindrical white stipe with a persistent median annulus, without noticeable odour, and insipid, slightly farinaceous taste.
Pileipellis composed of subglobose to pyriform cells, hyaline or containing pale brown pigment (particularly at the cap disc), 22 to 35 µm long and 15 to 25 µm wide.
Caulocystidia present at the stipe apex in clusters, subcylindrical to utriform, 25 to 35 µm long and 8 to 12 µm wide.
Cheilocystidia ventricose to slightly utriform, thin-walled, 18 to 26 µm long and 7 to 11 µm wide.
Pleurocystidia absent.
Basidia clavate, 16 to 21 µm long, 7 to 10 µm wide, 4-spored.
Spores ellipsoidal, smooth, thick-walled, with a truncate apex, brown under the microscope, 7 to 9 µm long, 4.5 to 5 µm wide, lacking a distinct apiculus, with a germ pore at the truncate pole.
