Propolis farinosa
(Pers.) Fr.

Study description
A lignicolous ascomycete occurring on decaying decorticated wood, with erumpent, white ascomata having an elevated, torn margin formed by host plant tissue and fungal hyphae, soft in consistency.
Asci cylindrical-clavate, attenuated at the base, unitunicate, 100 to 190 µm long, 11 to 16 µm wide, with spores arranged biseriately to irregularly in the upper part and uniseriately below, inamyloid in Melzer's reagent.
Paraphyses filiform, very slender, hyaline, profusely branched especially towards the apex, only 1.5 to 2 µm wide, slightly exceeding the level of the asci.
Ascospores cylindrical, slightly allantoid, with rounded ends, smooth, hyaline, thin-walled, 23 to 29 µm long, 6 to 8.5 µm wide, containing multiple oil droplets (guttules) of varying sizes inside.
Herbarium material available: JTP2435/25.
