Podoscypha gillesii
Boidin & Lanq.

Study description
A poorly documented lignicolous fungus collected in Guadeloupe, with semicircular, fan-shaped basidiomata 3 to 8 cm across, reddish-brown with an undulating whitish margin, very thin, with a smooth hymenium concolorous with the pileus but slightly paler.
Hyphal system dimitic: skeletal hyphae thick-walled, with brown intracellular pigment, aseptate, 3 to 4.5 µm in diameter; generative hyphae hyaline, thin-walled, 1.5 to 3 µm in diameter, septate with clamp connections.
Terminal hyphae on the pileus forming piliform hairs, very thick-walled with a narrow lumen, 6 to 7.5 µm wide, regularly constricted, with rounded apices.
Cystidia abundant, fusiform to lageniform, thick-walled, hyaline, 28 to 41 µm long and 10 to 14 µm wide, some with hyaline apical encrustations, deeply embedded in the hymenium and generally projecting little beyond the basidia.
According to the original description (Boidin & Lanquetin, 1973), Podoscypha gillesii should also possess cylindrical, flexuous gloeocystidia with refractive contents, which were not observed in the present study.
Basidia cylindrical, hyaline, 16 to 21 µm long, 3 to 4 µm wide, presumably 4-spored.
Spores not observed; according to literature subglobose to ellipsoidal, 5 to 6.5 µm long and 4 to 5 µm wide.
