(Fr.) Pouzar

Study description
Species restricted to stumps and decaying wood of Abies alba, found on a slender fallen branch on the ground, with a semicircular, fan-shaped pileus 4 to 12 cm across, up to 1.5 cm thick, dark brown with reddish shades, tomentose surface, round whitish to brown pores (2 to 4 per mm), and a brownish context.
Hyphal system apparently dimitic: tramal skeletal hyphae 1.5 to 2.5 µm wide, thick-walled, aseptate; contextual skeletal hyphae 3 to 4.5 µm wide, thick-walled, aseptate, with abundant brown pigment; generative hyphae more abundant in the subhymenium, hyaline, thin-walled, 2 to 3 µm wide, septate with clamp connections.
Differentiated cystidia absent, though hyaline fusiform cystidioles 20 to 25 µm long and 4 to 6 µm wide (smaller than basidia) may occur.
Basidia clavate, 25 to 35 µm long, 5 to 7 µm wide, clamped at the base, 4-spored.
Spores ellipsoidal, smooth, hyaline, thin-walled, 5 to 7 µm long, 2.5 to 3.5 µm wide, with a pointed apicular end, containing abundant oil droplets, inamyloid in Melzer's reagent.
