(Fr.) Gillet

Study description
On decaying dead wood or woodchips on the ground, with a convex to flattened pileus 3 to 5 cm across, greyish-brown with radial fibrils, free lamellae, white turning pink with sporulation, a cylindrical stipe slightly widened at the base with greyish-brown longitudinal fibrils over a whitish background, without distinctive odour, and an insipid, slightly astringent taste after mastication.
Pileipellis a cutis of more or less parallel hyphae 6 to 10 µm wide, with emergent clavate to fusiform pileocystidia 80 to 250 µm long and 15 to 20 µm wide, filled with brown intracellular pigment, septate with simple septa.
Cheilocystidia clavate to fusiform, 35 to 75 µm long and 15 to 30 µm wide.
Pleurocystidia scarce, scattered, similar in morphology to cheilocystidia, 40 to 80 µm long and 15 to 35 µm wide.
Basidia cylindrical to ventricose, 25 to 35 µm long, 8 to 10 µm wide, clampless at the base, 4-spored.
Spores subglobose to ellipsoidal, smooth, hyaline, slightly thick-walled, 6.5 to 8 µm long, 5.5 to 6.5 µm wide, with an almost imperceptible apiculus at one pole, containing small oil droplets, inamyloid in Melzer's reagent.
