Pleurotus pulmonarius
(Fr.) Quél.

Study description
A warm-season oyster mushroom occurring on decaying dead wood of broadleaved trees, with a fan-shaped pileus 3 to 10 cm across, smooth white surface, deeply decurrent white lamellae becoming pale cream at maturity, and a short lateral stipe attaching it to the substrate.
Pileipellis a cutis of more or less parallel to slightly interwoven hyaline hyphae 5 to 9 µm wide, septate with clamp connections.
Cystidia absent, although abundant small capitate/lecythiform basidioles of similar dimensions to the basidia are present.
Basidia subcylindrical to clavate, 18 to 25 µm long, 3.5 to 5.5 µm wide, clamped at the base, 4-spored.
Spores cylindrical-ellipsoidal, smooth, hyaline, thin-walled, 7.5 to 10.5 µm long, 3 to 4.5 µm wide, with a prominent eccentric apiculus at one pole, containing oil droplets, inamyloid in Melzer's reagent.
